Graduate Training

Graduate training in Pediatric Complementary and Alternative Medicine: University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The CARE Program for Integrative Health and Healing in the Department of Pediatrics will consider graduate students for studies in PedCAM (e.g. clinical epidemiology, public health sciences, etc.). Complementary and Alternative Medicine Master's Program: Georgetown University (USA). The first program of its kind, the Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) Masters Program places Georgetown University at the forefront of graduate education in this field. The program was introduced in the fall of 2009 as the first CAM-oriented, science-based MSc program at the US medical Center. The program intends to serve both the great public interest in complementary and alternative medicine and the need for greater scientific research into these areas.

Masters and PhD Programs (research) in Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic or Osteopathy: RMIT University, Melbourne (Australia). Master of Applied Science by Research in: Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic Science or Osteopathic Science and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chiropractic, Osteopathy and Chinese Medicine. Research may also be conducted as a minor thesis within Master by coursework, degree programs. Research projects in basic and biomedical science, clinical science including clinical trials, professional standards, professional education and psychosocial aspects of complementary medicine can be supported.

Graduate Minor Program in Complementary Therapies and Health Practices: University of Minnesota, Center for Spirituality and health. The Graduate Minor program is for health professional students and practitioners as well as lifelong learners seeking to deepen their understanding of CAM topics. In addition to complementary therapies and healing practices, coursework includes spirituality, cross-cultural international health, research and evaluation methodologies and independent studies.

Bastyr University: Bastyr University located north of Seattle, Washington is one of the world's leading academic centers for advancing knowledge in the natural health sciences. Bastyr offers a range of graduate and undergraduate programs including naturopathic medicine, acupuncture and Oriental medicine, nutrition, health psychology, exercise science and herbal sciences.


Fellowship in Integrative Medicine (formerly the Associate Fellowship)

University of Arizona

It is a two-year program designed for physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners who want to incorporate the philosophies and techniques of integrative medicine into their medical practice. The Fellowship emphasizes clinical applications, case studies and collaboration to provide a broad conceptual and practical education in integrative medicine.

CAM in UME Project (Complementary and Alternative Medicine Issues in Undergraduate Medical Education), University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta
The CAM in UME project is a Canadian medical education initiative established in 2003 by a team of conventional and CAM educators. Headed by Dr. Marja Verhoef at the University of Calgary, the overarching objective of the CAM in UME Project is to help medical school instructors impart to students the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to discuss CAM with patients in an informed and non-judgmental manner. Includes over 100 teaching/learning resources , a set of CAM related competencies, and a guide for medical educators about implementing CAM education into their schools
