This conference will address contemporary challenges of health and wellness from interdisciplinary perspectives. Areas of concern include preventative medicine, public health, proactive wellness and the relationships of social and personal wellbeing to health. Disciplinary perspectives include public health, medicine, nursing, pharmacology, nutrition, physical and health education, psychology, social work, sociology and communications.

In contrast to conferences with a specialist disciplinary focus, this conference aims to explore the linkages required for a holistic and effective understanding of social and personal dynamics of wellness and health.

The 6th IN-CAM Research Symposium, Complementary and Integrative Health Care: Methodological, Theoretical and Practical Issues, 

The abstract submission deadline is fast approaching!  Abstracts must be submitted by midnight EDT on July 30th, 2010. In addition to oral and poster abstracts, we also welcome workshop abstracts.  Please note that workshops are 1.5 hours in length and are scheduled to be held on Saturday, Nov. 20th.  Workshop topics may include: research method topics (e.g., designing CAM use questionnaires, qualitative analysis, selecting or designing CAM-relevant outcome measures); specific subject areas (e.g., CAM and Cancer); sessions on outcome measures; or tips on getting funding, writing grants or proposals.

Pediatric Integrative Medicine embraces a holistic, whole-child approach, specifically examining the context the ecology in which optimal health and wellness is promoted. This groundbreaking one-day symposium will highlight a range of interacting factors that influence child health and development, including nutrition, education, socio-economic status, exposures to toxic chemicals, and access to preventive health care. Leaders in these fields of expertise will also describe model programs and concrete steps toward creating optimal and sustainable environments in which children can thrive and reach their full potential.

Hosted by CHE, UCSF/Osher and the Whole Child Center, and supported by numerous other organizations, this symposium is open to health professionals, research scientists, parents, school administrators, teachers, policymakers, city planners, nutritionists and all others concerned with ensuring children have the best possible environments in which to grow and develop. Note that the meeting will be held the day before the start of the annual meeting of the American Academy of Pediatrics in San Francisco.

The OCM is a state-funded clinic and research center, operating since 1989, and a pioneer in the integration of traditional Eastern, especially Tibetan medical methods and therapies into contemporary health care in the Russian Federation.

While we have maintained tight contact and dialogue with our colleagues in China and Mongolia, we would be very interested in opening new avenues and conversations with medical professional and researchers interested in alternative medical therapies in Europe. Accepted poster presentations will be displayed during the MedEdPORTAL Reception on Modernizing Medicine, co-sponsored by the Organization of Resident Representatives and the Organization of Student Representatives, on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, DC. An award for the Best Poster will be announced during the MedEdPORTAL Reception.

Proposals are due by August 27, 2010 at 5:00pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). All submissions will be reviewed by the MedEdPORTAL Program Committee. Acceptance notices will be sent to primary authors during the first week of September 2010.

In the event your poster is accepted, you must be registered for the AAMC 2010 Annual Meeting in order to attend the reception and present your poster.
